Granted by the Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration (ETA), DWGs provide supplemental funding in response to layoffs and disaster events that cause or contribute to a shortage of existing Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Dislocated Worker formula funds and other relevant resources in states and local areas, creating challenges to providing workforce services to eligible participants. DWGs enable states and communities to respond to and recover from large, often unexpected dislocation events and their associated impacts via Disaster or Economic Recovery type DWGs. Webinar presenters will discuss the major changes to DWG Program Guidance detailed in the updated TEGL including:
- The new funding approach,
- The new 36-month DWG performance period,
- The incorporation of National Health Emergency TEGL 04-18 elements into the updated guidance,
- The simplified instructions for meeting the “higher-than-average demand” qualifying event,
- The expansion of allowable participant activities under both types of DWGs, and
- Flexibilities for federally recognized tribal governments.
This webinar is the first in a series and will present an overview of the new guidance.
