National Recovery Month and ETA's Role in Supporting Recovery-Ready Workplaces

About

Each September, the United States observes National Recovery Month, a time of reflection and recognition for the importance of supporting individuals on their path to recovery from substance use disorders and mental health challenges. During this month, we also shine a spotlight on "Recovery-Ready Workplaces," a growing movement dedicated to creating environments that are both supportive and inclusive for employees in recovery.

ETA's Crucial Role in Promoting Recovery-Ready Workplaces: The Employment and Training Administration (ETA) plays a pivotal role in championing the concept of "Recovery-Ready Workplaces." In collaboration with the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and various federal agencies, ETA has been at the forefront of driving workforce development and recovery initiatives. This collaborative effort has led to the establishment of the Recovery Ready Workplace (RRW) Resource Hub.

The RRW Resource Hub: The RRW Resource Hub serves as a valuable resource for employers striving to create environments conducive to substance use recovery. It provides a wealth of tools, guidelines, and informative materials to guide organizations on this important journey.

Upcoming Release: The RRW Resource Hub "Tool Kit": We're excited to announce that the RRW Resource Hub is preparing to unveil a "Tool Kit" in the upcoming weeks. This kit is specifically designed to empower both public and private sector employers in their efforts to address substance use concerns among prospective and current employees effectively. Beyond serving employers, the RRW Resource Hub is intended to benefit states, local governments, labor and business groups, and non-profit organizations interested in launching their own RRW initiatives, sometimes referred to as "recovery-friendly workplace" initiatives.

ETA's Continued Commitment: Beyond hosting the RRW Resource Hub on its official website, ETA has remained dedicated to providing an array of resources, programs, and information to strengthen this groundbreaking initiative. Some notable highlights include a series of interactive webinars addressing individuals with opioid addiction and substance use disorders, as well as the impact of the opioid epidemic on the public workforce system.

Join Our Community of Practice: To access the wealth of resources ETA has to offer, including interactive webinars and technical assistance materials, please visit the National Dislocated Worker Community of Practice (National DWG COP). Here, you can find valuable resources such as:

Through these resources and the collaborative efforts of ETA, we are actively working towards creating Recovery-Ready Workplaces, fostering support, and ultimately contributing to the well-being and success of individuals on their journey to recovery.
